New Moon
Okay, about halfway thru New Moon now. I'm really enjoying it! Carla is STILL reading Twilight. Can you believe she actually told me today that if I really love her I'll wait for her to catch up?!?! Sheesh!
I also wanted to say that Brandon is so incredibly excited about starting preschool. He talks about it everyday! We are gonna try to get his haircut tomorrow so he looks "fresh" on his first day. He was upset that we couldn't get it done today cause he said he wanted to tell his teacher about it LOL, he's too cute! I think I'm gonna get Jack's hair trimmed, too, I'm still not totally decided. If I do get his hair cut I'll be sure to bring the camera!

Twilight
Okay, so I gave in to the peer pressure and just finished Twilight. I got the next two books today at Target. I'm enjoying it, but I'm not sure I'd go on and on about it just based on the first book. It really isn't my prefered style of books, but it's good to be reading again! I just had to know what all the fuss was about!

So close!
We had a nice weekend. Saturday we went to a party at one of Jason's co-workers houses. It was great to see everyone and meet some new people. Jack got ooh'd and ahh'd on and my poor little Brandon had his first bit of rejection :( Some of the kids were playing in a room and he attemped to join them. One of the kids pushed him out of the room and closed the door, so I went to get him. When I reached him he was asking, to the door, "Can you hear me?", trying to get their attention. It seriously makes me want to cry that he got his feelings hurt. He was a bit younger than those kids so I can understand that they didn't want him in there, but still, my poor baby! Later we went to Freddy's and we were quiet the sight apparently. I noticed a man a little older than my parents staring at me and Jack while Jason and B ordered. I couldn't figure it out...did I have something in my teeth? About 15 minutes later he came out of the bathroom and stopped by our table. He told us that we were "unusual parents" and by that he meant that, according to him, lots of parents ignore their children and talk amongst themselves, but that he saw we were actually talking to our kids and he thought that was great. Plus, he told us how adorable our boys are, which I totally love. It was really nice to be complimented by a total stranger. A few minutes before he stopped at our table a woman had to stop by and tell us how adorable Jack was, and Brandon, too. That red hair really attracts a LOT of attention :D
On Sunday Jack and I stayed home all day. Jason took Brandon to the movies. Brandon did GREAT with his potty training, nearly making it the whole day without an accident. He goes to bed at 8:30pm and around 8:25pm he tells me he needs to change his underwear. He had just gone potty not 10 minutes before, so, I knew what that meant, it was poop time. I'll be really glad when we get fully trained with that. He stayed dry at the movies with Jason (wearing a pullup), during naptime (in underwear) and the whole day until the very end. He also did great on Saturday, peeing twice at Thom's house. Hopefully we are getting somewhere with that. I'm kinda worried that he'll regress with preschool...keeping my fingers crossed with that one.
Also, Jack really really tried to pull up on a table today. He just couldn't figure it out and got mad at me for not helping him faster, lol.

Lots to be happy about.
First of all I want to say that I'm soo thankful and happy that both my sisters-in-law that had "issues" this week are doing well! I'm so grateful for that! You can read a little about Bliss' situation on her blog if you haven't already.
My sweet baby, Jack, has cut his 6th tooth! It's the bottom left side. He's been perfect and I wouldn't have even known if I hadn't seen it. Must be a lot easier to cut just one, than three, at once :D Also, I'm feeling more rested these days! I decided to go on a a hunch and start putting him to bed differently the last three days. I started thinking back to when he was sleeping through the night, which was from the time he was 2-5 months old and then, recently, the time we were at the coast. The difference was that I wasn't rocking him then, I was putting him in bed awake after he finished his last bottle. So, I have been laying him in bed awake with his bottle and going and taking it out after 30 minutes and he's been sleeping through the night!! As a matter of fact, he' even sleeping later in the morning as well. I really hope I'm on to something and that this isn't some fluke. My mom thought maybe he was in a growth spurt, and that's possible, but I really hope this is a new, and permanent, thing for us. Also, last night he blew me away by eating three jars of baby food for dinner! For this house that is HUGE, I would struggle with Brandon at this age to even eat one, so this is BIG for us. Each time he finished a jar, including the last one, he would start crying for more! After three I got worried that he'd puke it up so I gave him a bottle. What a big boy!
Brandon is making me laugh everyday. I've taken to writing down some of the things so I can remember them properly. They are probably funnier when they actually happen, though, rather than on paper later. At Hobby Lobby this week we were walking in the fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving section. We saw this garland of fall colored leaves. He says, "Mommy, is that a scary monster? No, it's a leave (leaf)." He has a tendancy to ask a lot of questions and then answer them himself. Sometimes he does it to be funny, other times he is quiet serious. After that we are in the parking lot and he looks up in the sky and says, "Is that an airplane? No...it's a bird." Then, later at home, we watched "Milo and Otis" while eating lunch (another thing we do often) and he had his little Nestle Crunch candy that came with his Lunchable meal. "Milo, do you want some chocolate? No, animals no eat chocolate." He really makes me laugh a lot.
Lastly, I'm soooo glad to say that one of my best friends in the world just got engaged! Alan popped the question (and gave her a lovely ring, I'm told) while they were vacationing and visiting Jodi's family in England last month. She just got back this week and was bursting with the news. I can't believe I had to wait for her to get back from England to hear about it! I even got a postcard with no mention of it, sheesh! Anyway, I think they are planning an August 2009 wedding! I'm soooooo excited for them both. No one deserves this more than her. Love you, Jo!!

Another big weekend!
We had another fabulous weekend!
Yesterday Jack turned 8 months old! I can't believe how fast the time is flying by with him! I can't say enough what a good baby he is, I really won the "jack"pot with him ;) I see his 6th tooth below him gums. He's still doing the army crawl and not pulling up yet. He LOVES playing in Brandon's room, they are so cute together. My gosh, how I love them!
On Thursday we went to Port Aransas for our second family coast trip. We stayed at Port Royal, again, and had an awesome condo, this time with a pool view! We had fun on the beach and, of course, the pool was wonderful. Jack and Izzie played for the first time in the sand and surf. Jason and Brandon caught hermit crabs in the water and used some little sand molds. The beach was actually pretty clean this time. The seaweed was super high on the beach, near the pier. There were a lot of dead crabs by the water though, which I've never seen before. Brandon had soo much fun collecting seashells. I swear he carried his bucket of shells around with him the entire time we were there. He counted them and lined them up and listened for the ocean in one. He did have a serious coughing fit the first night we were there, it was pretty miserable for all of us. I called the pedi's nurse line and they suggested getting a cool mist humidifier and so we ran off to HEB Plus and found one. The other nights were better, but not great. The kids had sooo much fun together! Brandon is really good with both Jack and Izzie and the babies have soo much fun watching him, too! We are really looking forward to next summer!

Red Hair
Every time we go somewhere, seriously, almost every single time, we get a comment about Jack's hair. Today at HEB a stocker gasped when we went by her. She jumped up and asked, "Does he have red hair?".....Uh...yeah. "Can I touch it?" Um...okay? The other day at Brandon's preschool we got a comment. We get comments at restaurants, stores, from friends, family, strangers. I guess I'm just so used to it, the color I mean, but I also don't think it's that uncommon, is it? The other thing is I'm not sure what people mean when they ask about it. Like, sometimes they say the love his hair color. Other times it's a question about it, like does he have it, or who in the family does he get it from. When it's a question it makes me wonder what they really think about it.

Such A Good Baby!!

We had my cousin, Andrea's, baby shower this weekend. It was so nice to see her and her little belly! Her SIL, Corinne, is also pregnant (with surprise #3) so they are just like me and Carla last year. I took Jack with me so Jason could take Brandon to see Wall-e again for doing so good on the potty this week. Jack was a total angel and I am so proud of him! He went to several people and played with my cousin, David's (Corinne's husband), daughter, Ramona (she's 2). Everyone kept telling me that he was so good, just what any mother LOVES to hear :D
On Sunday we went to Bev and Hank's for a bit. Jack was awesome there, too! He let Hank hold him for quiet awhile, which surprised me. Jack isn't used to men as much (except Daddy and his grandfathers) so I was glad that he wasn't too freaked out. Of course he probably felt comfort with Hank's goatee, just like Jason's, lol. Afterwards we went to Bigz burgers for dinner. I had to take pictures...it was so unbelievable! Jason supposedly ordered a double burger but got a triple, it was an insane amount of meat! It seriously made me sick just looking at it.
Oh, I also got to babysit Miss Izzie for a little bit on Friday. She still wasn't feeling 100% but she did pretty good anyway. She really wanted to be held so I got to cuddle her a LOT and loved it. I never really get the chance to love on her as much as I want because I'm usually chasing Jack. I loved spending time with her and getting to smooch on her pretty little face BUT I have to say I've never been more glad that I don't have twins! Holy cow! Two crawlers is a LOT of work, and I only had her for about 1 hour! Of course they wanted to go in two totally different directions, lol, but it was fun. Carla and I couldn't be luckier. We have the best of both worlds. I can't help but hope that Jack and Izzie are the best of friends growing up. I can't wait to babysit for her again!! :D
